What MCP repositories are
The Model Context Protocol defines how an AI assistant talks to an external program that offers it tools, data and prompt templates. A repository on this page is typically one of three things: a server that exposes a service (a database, a browser, a code host, a design tool) to assistants; a client or framework that connects to such servers; or a tool that manages, proxies or inspects them.
Before you connect one
A server runs with the access you give it: files, credentials, a logged-in browser. Its tool descriptions are also text that the assistant reads and may follow. Prefer servers whose source you can read, check when the repository was last pushed, and give each server the narrowest permissions that still let it do its job. The install line shown on a repository page is copied from its README and is not a recommendation.
